Eastern Horse Mix

The eastern horse mix is perfectly suited to the equine industry due to the grass species in this blend having exceptional tolerance to hard grazing. The combination of prairie grass, a grazing brome and an early flowering perennial ryegrass offer a strong grass based pasture with quality feed spread through autumn, winter, spring and early summer. Lucerne, sub and white clover are also included in this blend to increase the overall quality. This blend is suited to free draining soils and will not tolerate low lying areas that are wet during winter. Care must be taken during the establishment phase of this pasture, particularly with the grazing brome. Soil type Loams/sandy loam Annual rainfall 550 mm+ Sowing rate 20-30 kg/ha Fertility Medium Persistence* 5 years+ Sowing time Early autumn Establishment Medium *Persistence will be influenced by a number of facts and is not guaranteed Please note: All equine pastures MUST be rested throughout the year and should never be overgrazed during the summer period. Please refer to our Equine Mix brochure for more management tips.

Equinewise Brome Blend

The Brome blend is perfectly suited to the equine industry due to the grass species in this blend having exceptional tolerance to hard grazing. The main component is Exceltas coloured brome which is highly productive densely tillered winter active grass. It is combined with cocksfoot which is extremely persistent once established providing a strong grass base pasture through autumn, winter and spring. Lucerne and sub clover are also included in the blend to increase the quality. This blend is suited to free draining soils and will not tolerate low lying areas that wet during winter. These varieties are slower to establish so particular care must be taken at establishment stage. Soil type Loams/sandy loam Annual rainfall  500 mm+ Sowing rate 30 kg/ha Fertility  Medium Persistence* 5 years+ Sowing time Early autumn Establishment Slow  *Persistence will be influenced by a number of facts and is not guaranteed Please note: All equine pastures MUST be rested throughout the year and should never be overgrazed during the summer period. The perennial ryegrasses in the Equiturf Blend have very low endophyte levels reducing the risk of health issues to horses. It is suited to low rainfall areas (550 mm+). The blend will provide a fast establishing, highly productive pasture during the winter/spring period. Cocksfoot has been included to enable summer activity when rainfall occurs. The blend also provides the opportunity to cut high quality hay, this is not recommended in the first year. Soil type Wide range Annual rainfall 550 mm+ Sowing rate 20-25 kg/ha Fertility Medium-high Persistence* 4 years+ Sowing time Autumn Establishment Fast  *Persistence will be influenced by a number of facts and is not guaranteed Please note: All equine pastures MUST be rested throughout the year and should never be overgrazed during the summer period. Equinewise Tall Fescue Blend

The Tall Fescue Blend (summer active) is ideal for areas that have full irrigation or receive summer rainfall. This blend provides the opportunity to produce quality feed through the summer period, providing adequate moisture, whereas most other cooler season grasses cannot. Fescue has a very deep root structure therefore is slower to establish when compared with ryegrass. Particular attention must be taken at sowing to ensure success. Clover has been added to the blend to further improve quality. Hay production is also an option for this blend once established. This blend would suit any low lying paddocks that may be wet during winter. Soil type Clay loams/heavy clays Annual rainfall 650 mm+ Sowing rate 30 kg/ha Fertility High Persistence* 5 years+ Sowing time Early autumn/spring Establishment Slow  *Persistence will be influenced by a number of facts and is not guaranteed Please note: All equine pastures MUST be rested throughout the year and should never be overgrazed during the summer period.
