Vetch is normally sown in the drier areas and are normally paired with oats for grazing or hay. Vetch can be particularly useful in cereal cropping rotations sown alone as it provides nitrogen for the following crop and can be made into high protein hay (protein levels of approx. 20-25%) or turned into a green manure crop. It also provides an excellent alternative crop for controlling cereal root disease.
Benatas is a cool season soft-seeded annual legume suitable for long season pasture management. It provides high yield levels and is tolerant of moderate waterlogging, proving extremely useful as a hay, silage or green manure crop. Being very winter hardy, Benatas performs well in high rainfall zones. Sowing rate: 30-50 kg/ha alone 20-35 kg/ha in a mix
